Great colors on a great plane, the livery on this airbus 321 is a retro scheme as used in the sixtie's. Now applied to this plane to celebrateLufthansa's 50th birthday.

This great junkers was painted on request of the Dutch tv where I was interviewed about the plane, it's the latest purchase of the aviation museum in Lelystad.

The "stable of Herman" Some time ago the first genetic manipulated bull lived here, (without my pictures to look at). Poor thing.

Exposition in the "old school" in the beautifull village Warmond, in the shade of Leiden and three miles from the nice North sea coast. It's one of the exciting art-centers in Holland.

My name is Bernard Nijssen, I have been painting all my life. I am absolutely fascinated by everything that flies, with or without engines. As you may have noticed, I work with watercolours. Just like the skies aquarell colours contain much water. They actually are a splendid medium to paint the skies and clouds. At the same time this technique provides me the possibillity to paint strong contrasts as well. As you can imagine the drawing of sharp lines and edges is a bit of a problem. But, exercise did it!

I especially like making paintings of historic events and vintage planes, bringing back bits of the past. Because I quite often have to work without good photographic material it is rather satisfying to get realistic pictures in the end.

The aquarells are 30x40 cm, 40x50 cm or 50x70 cm. Making good digital photographs of my paintings still is a bit of a problem, but I am working on it.
